Good song for a Jazz Guitar Audition?

The thing I want to try out for is looking for chord knowledge, scale knowledge, a song to play, and a solo to play. I'm just getting into music / jazz theory. What kind of song would you do for a thing that goes around touring your state for the summer? I was thinking a Van Halen solo and a Chet Atkins song

In addition to the excellent suggestions already here, I'd suggest rearranging a song you already know and love. Jazz techniques can be applied to absolutely any tune. Try substituting alternative chords for the chords that were used in the popular versions and adding interesting passing chords to smooth out the transitions between the chords. Concentrate on the bass lines even if you don't incorporate them into your new version--a composition with a smooth and interesting bass line will never be boring.
