I am 14 years old I can play the piano, clairnet, and base clairnet. I would like to learn to play percussion. I would like to start off with a snare drum. How much would that cost. The problem is I have to buy everything on my own my parents won't pay for it. How much would a snare drum cost. I am trying to buy cheap but still decent quality. What brands what stores and how much$$$.

It depends on the snare drum. You can pick them up for anywhere between $25 and $400. It depends upon quality and size. You have standard sized snares, marching snares, and piccollo snares.

Ludwig makes a great snare drum. I've had a Ludwig for more than 30 years and it's still a great drum!

With a little patience, you can probably find a cheap snare for around $50, maybe less if you keep looking around local pawn shops and garage sales. One word of advice, though. The cheap ones can tend to buzz like crazy, but a quick fix to that is to slide a piece of paper between the bottom head and the snares. Also, folding a paper towel a few times and taping it to the top head with electrical tape can also improve the sound.

At " MUSICIAN'S FRIEND DOT COM " , you can surf and get different prices for snare drums, but if you are serious about playing, you are gonna need a whole kit. They start at around $249.00. There are lots of great prices on brand-name kits and snare drums. (MAPEX are best....others are Ludwig, Tama, Pearl, DW, SONAR, and others )

They come in diff prices...go to gutair world...they got a nice inventory there...just to tell u a little addvise...dont move your arms, its all in the wrists...get that down and you will be great.

ive got snares at my crib that span from $200 to $1500...u can find them cheaper then that those...the only reason i got one thats $1500 is that its a one in a kind snare and it was a gift...hehe

It's gonna depend on how much you got. You get what you pay for, the more you spend the better quality you're gonna get.
