I'm guessing you mean "bridge"?

Many Jazz tunes have a form that is repeated through the song.

for example, the tune "I got rhythm" is AABA form.

A -8 bars A -8 bars B -8 bars A -8 bars = 32 bar form

The B section is known as the bridge. -it bridges the A sections.

So the bridge serves 2 functions.

1 AAAA form would be boring. The B section gives your ear something to listen to

2 It lets you know where you are in the form so everyone can stop together.

Hope this helps
